What You Can Do At Home To Handle Gingivitis

Gingivitis can happen to anyone. It is an infection in your mouth that is characterized by an inflammation of the gums. Your gums will feel tender, swollen and may bleed easily and sometimes even recede from your teeth. Fortunately the signs and symptoms of the disease condition are very mild that you may not even realize you have it.

Gingivitis can happen when you do not take good care of your teeth or if you have poor oral hygiene. Brushing, flossing and going to a dentist are one of the most important factors in preventing it. If you do not brush or floss your teeth every day, the plaque may build up. Plaque is portions of bacteria, food particles, mucus or dirty stuff that form in your mouth and stick into your teeth every day. Warm and moist environments are good environment types for the growth of the bacteria that are present. These bacteria then clump together and produce toxins that may damage your gums and cause pain. Besides good oral hygiene and regular visits to the dentist, there are other methods to treat and prevent gingivitis at home.
